African Digital Libraries Support NetworkThe “Towards the Collaborative Repository for Ethiopian Academic and Research Institutions” project (TCRE), supported by an Elsevier Foundation grant, “Innovative Libraries Programme”, was officially launched in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on the 13-15 June 2014. The stakeholders meeting was organized by the Consortium of the Ethiopian Academic and Research libraries (CEARL) in collaboration with the African Digital Library Support Network (ADLSN).

The network is working in partnership to

1. Implement repositories. To build on, and scale up the Addis Ababa University institutional repository to become an open, national repository for academic research results from universities across Ethiopia. As well as to build 30 institutional repositories across Ethiopia.

2. Conduct training.  There is a two-prong approach to capacity building (a) training for librarians and IT staff on how to use and manage repositories; (b) training for researchers and students on how to effectively use e-resources to improve the quality of their research; and how to upload their research output to repositories and its benefits.
