Programs
Innovative Libraries in Developing Countries Program (ILDC)
The ILDC Program awards grants to libraries for innovation to improving access to scientific, technical and medical information. Past projects include: expanding information resources through digitization and knowledge preservation; training and education for librarians and researchers, and developed-developing world partnerships providing longer term technical assistance and training.
New Scholars Program
The New Scholars Program supports projects to help early- to mid-career women scientists balance family responsibilities with demanding academic careers. New Scholars seeks to actively address the attrition rate of talented women scientists caused by work-life balance issues. Recent grants have promoted institutional research, advocacy, and policy development to retain, recruit and develop women in science and have enabled researchers to attend conferences critical to their careers by assisting with childcare, mentorship and networking.
Nursing Faculty Program
The Nursing Faculty Program focuses on retention and migration to address the global nursing shortage, caused by a lack of nursing faculty and nurse migration – when nurses leave their country to work elsewhere. The Elsevier Foundation has two programs which address these critical issues: The International Summit on Nurse Faculty Migration and Nurse-Faculty Mentored Leadership Development.
